The Chairperson of the Advisory Board to the Industry Minister, stated that the drafting of the Industrial Waste Management Act—with 143 articles—is now underway. This new draft law will cover topics such as industrial waste management, oversight, civil liabilities, policies to promote the disposal of industrial waste, the Sustainable Industry Fund, and penalty provisions.
Additionally, a Sustainable Industry Fund will be established, with revenues generated from fines, fees, legally mandated service charges, interest, registration and certification inspection fees, and government subsidies.
The management goals include:
1. Collecting industrial waste for disposal immediately.
2. Providing compensation to affected parties immediately.
3. Prosecuting cases on behalf of the affected parties.
4. Immediately funding investigations, prevention, suppression, and prosecution.
5. Offering loans or venture capital to support the transition to a new era economy.
From the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), there is a push to stimulate comprehensive industrial waste management by:
– Encouraging industrial factories to operate within industrial estates (industrial relocation).
– Ensuring that waste and industrial by-products are properly separated and disposed of to minimize environmental impact.
– Creating a circular economy and promoting zero waste to landfill.
– Utilizing digital systems to monitor the movement of industrial waste across the entire system in real time.
– They also aim to promote a circular economy through pilot projects, such as developing prototype products from recycled materials and awarding factories that excel in implementing circular economy practices.
Furthermore, during a panel discussion, the IFC World Bank Group mentioned that funding would be provided to develop various projects as long as the projects meet IFC criteria.
And for SMEs in Thailand, Investree is an ASEAN-based financial technology company with one simple mission: empowering SMEs with new access to capital, the aim is to make credit much more accessible and affordable for SMEs as a licensed Crowdfunding Platform under the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand.
